Police parade 110 suspects as Okowa inaugurates ‘Operation Delta Hawk’

 

The Delta State Police Command has paraded 110 suspects for various criminal offences ranging from armed robbery, kidnapping, cultism, jail-breaks, murder, among others.

Parading the suspects at the command headquarters on Thursday in Asaba, the Commissioner of Police, Hafiz Inuwa, said the recent #EndSARS protest which was hijacked by hoodlums had a devastating effect on the general security of life and property.

BREAKING: Yakubu assumes office as INEC Chairman

 

Prof. Mahmood Yakubu on Thursday assumed office for a second term as Chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission INEC.

Yakubu had arrived to a rousing reception by INEC headquarters staff and guests at about 11:20 am and went into a closed-door session with the national commissioners. Thereafter, at a brief ceremony to formally take over affairs of the commission, Yakubu pledged to discharge his mandate without bias.

AU warns of ‘terrible’ health consequences should Africa miss out on COVID-19 vaccine

 

The African Union Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC) said on Thursday it will be “extremely terrible” for the world to watch African countries go without a coronavirus vaccine.

 The Africa CDC Director, John Nkengasong, said on Thursday that failure by African countries to receive the vaccines for the coronavirus pandemic in a timely manner could terribly undermine the continent’s development record and upset global efforts to curb the spread of the virus.

Court refuses to order Diezani’s arrest, demands AGF’s extradition evidence

The Federal High Court in Abuja, on Wednesday, rejected the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s request to issue a warrant of arrest against a former Minister of Petroleum Resources, Mrs Diezani Alison-Madueke, who is believed to be residing in the United Kingdom.

Justice Ijeoma Ojukwu rejected the EFCC’s request for an arrest warrant citing the commission’s failure to enforce the earlier criminal summons which the court issued on the former minister as far back as July 24, 2020.

US Rejects WTO’s Proposal To Endorse Okonjo-Iweala As DG

A key group of WTO ambassadors has proposed Nigeria’s Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala to be the next head of the World Trade Organization, a WTO spokesman said on Wednesday, but the United States said it could not endorse her.

The recommendation, confirming news earlier reported by Reuters, needs clearance from all 164 WTO members. If appointed, the former Nigerian finance minister would become the first woman and African to head the global trade watchdog in its 25-year history.

A heavily-tattooed Australian woman is revealing she went through $120,000 worth of body modifications to morph from a blond-haired teen to what she describes on Instagram as a “blue eyes white dragon.”
