The purposeful spread of misinformation on the internet isn't new, but there are ways we can avoid — and learn to recognize — it so we don't fall into the trap and distribute or believe false information ourselves. Some social media companies work hard to remove or label fake news as it runs rampant on their platforms, and others fall entirely too short in their efforts (or lack thereof) to do so. Recently, the spread of fake news about COVID-19 online has created confusion that resulted in a negative impact on public health. 'Friends' reunion has finally been confirmed — here are the details



"Friends" fans have been teased with rumors of a reunion for ages — and now it's finally happening!

NOA Translate FOIA Into Indigenous Languages For Transparency, Accountability



The National Orientation Agency (NOA), has say that its had translated the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) into Hausa, lgbo, Yoruba and 20 other Nigerian indigenous languages to promote transparency and accountability for good governance  process.

The Director General of NOA, Dr. Garba Abari, made known at the stakeholder’s dialogue with the chief executives officer of different agencies and parastatals of government on the theme: “evaluate the application of the Freedom of Information Act and its impact on national development” in Abuja.

Without media there won’t be democracy, says Gbajabiamila


Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajajiamila said on Wednesday that the current democracy being enjoyed in Nigerian would not have been possible without the sacrifice of media professionals in the country.

Nigerians reject Hate Speech, anti-Social Media Bills



Nigerians, yesterday, vehemently opposed the Internet Falsehood Manipulation Bill and the Bill seeking to establish National Commission for  Prohibition of Hate Speeches.

Those who expressed this opposition also advised the sponsors of the Bills, Senators Sani Musa (APC, Niger East) and Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi (APC, Niger North), to withdraw the bills from the Senate in the interest of the country’s democracy.

Govt, media’ve responsibility to end fake news –Malami



The Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, has said that both government and the media should step up the fight against fake news in the country.

Malami made the observation in Abuja on Friday while playing host to a media delegation from the DAAR Communications.
