Police can’t be everywhere – IGP

Inspector-General of Police Mohammed Adamu on Monday said the Police can’t be everywhere, at the same time.

Adamu stated this in Gombe during the state inauguration of the Community Policing Advisory Committee, which will be co-chaired by the Emir of Gombe, Sheu Abubakar, and the state Police Commissioner, Maikudi Sheu.

Inspector General of Police regulates social media use for officers

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP, Mr Mohammed Adamu, has restricted operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, NPF, on the usage of the social media with a ban on police personnel from using pictures of themselves while dressed in police uniforms on their FaceBook, Twitter handles, WhatsApp or Instagram pages.

The Police chief also banned police personnel from making, sharing or commenting on any post that ridicules, maligns or disrespects any race, gender, ethnicity, tribe, religion or nationality as well as making controversial discussions bordering on politics and religion.

The IGP in a statement dated June 9th, 2020 warned that he is giving all police personnel in the country a grace of 30 days from June 10th for all operatives in the force to comply with the new Social Media Policy, SMP of the NPF by removing their pictures, videos in police uniforms, logos and insignias from their personal social media handles |||READ MORE


Lockdown: Three injured as Police crackdown on Lagos party



Three persons were allegedly injured when members of the Nigeria Police Force clamped down on a party in Surulere area of Lagos State.

The PUNCH reports that FCT Abuja, Lagos, and Ogun States are currently locked down and residents asked to stay at home to curb the spread of coronavirus.

Igbo governors get 90 days to establish regional security


The Igbo National Council, INC, on Tuesday, handed down a 90-day ultimatum to the governors of the five states of the South-East zone, to establish a regional security outfit just like the Northern and South-West regions did.
The warning came from the statement issued in Owerri, by the INC, National President, Chilos Godsent, alongside other executives after their meeting.

Aisha Buhari calls for harmony, re-examining of security structure to stem terrorism in Nigeria




Wife of the President, Aisha Buhari, on Monday called for synergy among all security agencies, to re-strategize and re-examine the security structure with a view to stem the rising cases of terrorism in Nigeria.

Mrs Buhari made the call at an international conference on state and security held at the Nigeria Defence Academy (NDA) Kaduna. The conference was organised by the NDA Centre for Critical Thinking, Teaching and Learning.

Boko Haram crisis is getting worse, says MSF Head of Mission



The Nigeria Head of Mission of Medicine San frontier Mr. Luis Eguiluz believes  the Boko Haram crisis in the Northeast is getting worse and the  humanitarian needs are getting massive by the day.

Eguiluz,in an interview   published on the MSF website said that  over seven million people directly affected  by the crisis  are currently dependent on humanitarian aid for survival.

Amotekun: Southwest AGs ratify legal framework



In line with the constitutional requirements for the Western Nigeria Security Network codenamed Operation Amotekun to be operational in combating security challenges within the Southwest states, the Attorneys-Generals of the six Southwest states on Friday night put finishing touches to the required legal framework

According to the details of the agreed framework, each of the Southwest states of Oyo, Ogun, Osun, Ondo, Ekiti and Lagos will have its own legislation and its own security network operatives which will bear the name Amotekun Corps.

FG pegs number of SIM cards Per mobile phone user to three

North launches own security outfit ‘Shege-Ka-Fasa’



The Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) on Wednesday unveiled northern Nigeria security outfit code-named ‘Operation Shege-Ka-Fasa’ which literally means “I dare you to attack or surrender” in Hausa.

It is believed to be a Northern version of the South-West regional security initiative ‘Operation Amotekun’ (Leopard).

Akande blames wrong SIM card registration for kidnapping



The nominee of the President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.),  for the chairmanship of the Nigeria Communication Commission board, Prof. Adeolu Akande, has  blamed  wrong SIM card registration for  the rising cases of  kidnapping, banditry and armed robbery in the country.

APC raises alarm! ….Says Boko Haram plotting religious war


Amidst public outcry over increasing rate of violent crimes across the country especially the ‘degraded’ Boko Haram insurgents, the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC yesterday raised alarm accusing the ‘degraded’ insurgents of plotting to cause religious war between the Christians and Muslims.

Calls for security chiefs’ sack diversionary –CSOs



The Conference of Civil Society Organisations for Peace, Security and National Development has faulted the call by the National Assembly and other pressure groups for the sack of military chiefs saying they were ill-timed and diversionary.

The CSOs at a press conference in Abuja on Thursday jointly addressed by its conveners, Mike Msuaan and Comrade Adamu Kabir Matazu, stated that the military “deserves support from all strata of society considering the complexity of fighting insurgency.”

According to them, “We were all witnesses to the reaction that greeted the pronouncement by the federal government of plans to withdraw the military from the North-east.
