Pre-Screening Your Date — How Far Is Too Far?

Online dating is the most popular way to meet a potential partner these days. While convenient (and ideal during the pandemic), apps and websites can be impersonal, making it difficult to gauge true chemistry. So when interest in someone builds, it makes perfect sense to start lurking on their social media accounts for some additional intel.

But since “lurking” sounds like the behavior of a clique slasher flick killer, we call this conduct “pre-screening.” And guess what? Everyone’s doing it.

“A date is basically a job interview for the position of significant other,” says Brody, 30. “Researching their social media is a good way to check their references and conduct a background check before the date. I would expect them to do the same for me.” |||READ MORE

What You Hide From Your Friends When You’re Dating Online

I wanted to ignore my own bad behavior. And because online dating is often such an isolated and isolating experience, it was convenient for me to do.

“I have a confession the next time we see each other,” I texted Laura from the grocery store parking lot. I wanted to put it out there before I forgot. And by “forgot,” I mean I’d conveniently not remember to tell her.

Because I didn’t want her to know, that’s why.

Laura, who’s my favorite, replied, “I love confessions.” |||READ MORE

6 Truths About Marriage Every Engaged Couple Needs to Hear

As Ted and I meet with engaged couples, I find myself sharing things I wish our mentors had told us.

Eighteen years ago, my fiancé Ted and I sat side-by-side on a blue floral couch in a living room in Virginia. Across from us, in a set of club chairs, sat a married couple from our church. As we chatted with them for the first time, both nervousness and excitement cartwheeled in my stomach.

They’d been married at least a decade. They knew firsthand about marriage’s better and worse, richer and poorer, sickness and health. As Ted and I counted down the four months until our wedding, they were there to help prepare us for the days, months and years to come after we promised, “I do.”

Golden Couple Freddie Prinze Jr. and Sarah Michelle Gellar ‘Do It Every Night’ — Do You?

The survival rate of any couple in Hollywood is painstakingly low. Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries filed for divorce 72 days after strolling down the aisle. Pam Anderson and new hubby Jon Peters? Tying the knot back in 2002, the real life Fred and Daphne are clearly doing something right when it comes to maintaining a healthy and happy relationship. And while the two have never spoken publicly about their sex life, a new Cascade spot is letting viewers at home in on the supposed secret to their everlasting love: They “do it every night.”

“When they pitched us the campaign, Sarah and I both started laughing,” Prinze Jr. tells AskMen. “We really thought it was charming, slick and smart. We live in Southern California, and all you hear every single day is conserve your water. We're in a drought, we're coughing dust." |||READ MORE …
