EFCC, NYSC Embark on Walk against Corruption in Sokoto



The personnel of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Sokoto State in the early hours of Friday embarked on a road walk to sensitize the general public on the dangers of corruption.

The walk, which started at 8 am, commenced from Shehu Kangiwa Square, Sokoto through Emir Yahaya Way, Ahmadu Bello Way and back to the square where the public were addressed.



Speaking at the event, the EFCC Zonal Head for Kebbi, Sokoto and Zamfara States, Abdullahi Lawal, said the anti-graft agency set aside Friday, February 14, being the Valentine’s Day, to engage the youths and sensitise them on the fight against corruption, as the day has a lot to do with them |||READ MORE …



International Condom Day: Pathfinders Urges Protection, Abstinence



As Nigeria joins the international community to mark this year’s condom day, Pathfinders International has urged Nigerian youths to stay protected or abstain from unwanted sex.

The organisation made the call during its female condom sensitisation campaign and distribution programme at the University of Abuja, yesterday.

Global AIDS organization, AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) has distributed over 8million free condoms across Nigeria in the past 9 years in its national intervention against HIV Aids and other sexually transmitted diseases.

Breaking: Lagos closes 16 companies over N126.19m tax evasion



The Lagos State Internal Revenue Service(LIRS) on Friday announced that it had closed 16 companies in the state over alleged failure to remit about N126.19m consumption tax.

The organisation’s Director of Legal Services, Mr Seyi Alade, told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos that the companies’ tax liabilities were from 2014 to 2016.

The Rock’s Daughter, Simone Johnson, Signs With WWE to become a wrestler



WWE has added a member of wrestling royalty to its training center. Simone Johnson, the daughter of WWE legend Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, has signed with WWE and begun training at its Performance Center in Florida, the company announced Monday.

Simone, 18, is the only child of Dwayne Johnson and his ex-wife Dany Garcia. She began training at the Performance Center in late 2018, but only on a part-time basis.

Somalia: Child Rapists Executed By Firing Squad



A firing squad has executed two men in north-eastern Somalia for raping and killing a 12-year-old girl, according to a BBC report.

Prosecutors said they relied on DNA evidence for the first time to convict them.

Singapore Airshow hit by virus fears as 70 exhibitors pull out



More than 70 exhibitors including US aerospace giant Lockheed Martin have pulled out of the Singapore Airshow over concerns about the coronavirus outbreak, but organisers insisted Sunday that Asia's biggest aviation event would still go ahead.

Precautionary measures -- including a major reduction in public attendance and temperature screenings -- have been imposed ahead of the opening of the event which opens Tuesday in the city-state, which has reported 40 coronavirus infections.

Thai mall shooting survivors tracked killer via CCTV



In a fourth-floor toilet of the Terminal 21 mall, shoppers jammed cubicle doors against the entrance to keep out a Thai soldier on a shooting spree, tracing his movements through fragments of CCTV passed on by friends on the outside.

Okowa Inaugurates 700-Capacity Hostel, Other Projects At Delta NYSC Camp

Overhead water tank falls into classroom, kills two students in Anambra


Two students were killed and two others injured on Wednesday when an overhead Tank filled with water fell into a classroom of Royal Kings Foundation nursery and primary school Nkpor-Agu in Idemili North LGA of Anambra State.

The 13-meter tank which had a capacity of 2,000 cubic meters, fell down while the pupils were learning in their classrooms. According to the PPRO, Anambra state police command, SP Mohammed Haruna, in a statement said on the 05/2/2020 at about 11:15 am, an overhead Tank filled with water fell into a classroom of Royal Kings Foundation nursery and primary school Nkpor-Agu in Idemili North LGA of Anambra State.

He said the police patrol team led by DPO Ogidi Division CSP Mark Ijarafu rushed to the scene. On arrival, it was discovered that the overhead tank of about 800 gallons capacity filled with water fell from its high stand in a neighbouring house adjacent to the school on the roof of the pre-nursery class and directly into the classroom. Buratai Removed Top Army Officers From NSA Office



Crisis between two top Nigerian security chiefs, the Chief of Army Staff Tukur Lt. Gen. Yusuf Buratai and the National Security Adviser retired Major Gen.
