Lagos to reward 20 best teachers with vehicles




Twenty outstanding teachers in public schools in Lagos State will be acknowledged and rewarded with brand new vehicle each as part of efforts to motivate teachers in the state.

The State Governor, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, said this on Saturday during the formal launch and graduation ceremony of EKOEXCEL teachers professional development and training programme in Ikeja, Lagos.

The governor, who promised that the selection process would be transparent, said there was nothing too big to motivate teachers with and that their reward should not be left to be got in heaven only. |||READ MORE ...


Leah Sharibu hasn’t denied her faith, says Northern CAN




NORTHERN CAN  Chairman, Rev Yakubu Pam has tasked the Federal government and security agencies to do all they can to ensure the traumatized Dapchi School girl Leah  Sharibu is rescued and reunited with her Family immediately either with a baby or not ad  demanded by her Parents.

Pam in  a statement in Jos on Sunday  which was made available to newsmen in Jos, said  the news making the rounds that Leah had given birth to a baby boy for a Boko  Haram Commander came to the Northern Christian Community as a shock and should be investigated by the Federal Security agencies .

He particularly called on President Buhari to verify this claim to authenticate the source of the story and if confirmed to be true, should do all that is within his power to negotiate the release of Leah without further delay from Boko haram  Den to be reunited with her parents. |||READ MORE ...



Accidental discharge: Senatorial candidate shot dead by NSCDC official in Imo




Mr Ndubuisi Emenike the Action Alliance (AA’s) candidate in the Imo North Senatorial District in the 2019 National Assembly election, has been shot dead by an operative of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC).

The Imo state Police command confirmed the killing on Sunday, January 26, 2020.according to Channels TV reports.

Speaking on the developing issue, police spokesman, Orlando Ikeokwu told journalists that Mr Emenike was shot dead by the NSCDC official during a celebration party held in honour of APC’s Miriam Onuoha the winner of the Okigwe North Federal Constituency. |||READ MORE ...

SERAP asks court to order Buhari, Osinbajo, governors to publish their assets




Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has asked a Federal High Court, Abuja to order President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice-President Professor Yemi Osinbajo, 36 state governors and their deputies to make public details of their assets.

The organisation asked the court to specifically order them to declare their property and income, contained in their asset declaration forms submitted to the Code of Conduct Bureau (CCB) since assuming office.

In the suit number FHC/ABJ/CS/65/2020 filed last Friday, SERAP is seeking: “an order for leave to apply for judicial review and an order of mandamus to direct and/or compel President Buhari, Vice-President Osinbajo, 36 state governors and their deputies to make public their summary of assets; disclose whether they have had any reason to review and update their asset declarations submitted to the CCB, and if the declarations have been made as constitutionally and statutorily required.”  |||READ MORE ...

Kobe was traveling with at least three other people in his private helicopter when it went down.
